Day 25

Bereaved Parents Awareness Month Day 25.

The age Billy was when he was senselessly murdered.

I hate that word.

Murdered.

It’s evil.

I used to tell my children that we don’t “hate” anything, but about 10 years ago I realized, that is not always correct.

Christmas Day 2017

“Love must be sincere. Hate what is evil; cling to what is good.” Romans 12:9

In order for love to be sincere, real, genuine, we must hate what is evil and hold on to what is good.

That’s a very powerful truth.

It doesn’t say to hate a person or a group of people. Even if the person or people do evil.

It says to hate evil.

Look for the good and hold onto it. Cling to it.

I have to cling to the good in order for love to be sincere.

Love for my family, love for my friends, and love for others.

I can hate evil, hate the fact that my son, my boy, was murdered, yet hold on to the good.

The good that he left behind. The good that is still here.

I can talk about Billy, share the memories, remember the funny stories, treasure the pictures, sing the songs, smile the smiles.

That’s good and I’m going to cling to all of it.
